Good Buy or Good Bye: Oil Absorbing Sheets

My skin pretty much does whatever it wants. But one thing is for certain - I am always oily. I have tried everything from translucent powder to paper towels to dull the midday shine. So I decided to buy these oil absorbing sheets that I have been using for a while now.

The sheets come in a small-sized cardboard packaging that's the size of a credit card so it fits into a cosmetic bag easily. These little sheets are pretty pricey. I spent about $4 for 50 sheets of the Walgreen's brand. Everyone makes them though. But I must say it does the job! I love these little things. The sheets are blue and as you use them the blue turns translucent so you can see how much oil is there. I like this brand because the paper isn't loud and crinkly so everyone doesn't have to be in your business.

I say this product is a Good Buy!

Good Buy or Good Bye: Neosporin Lip Health

This chapstick (also known as daily hydration therapy) is supposed to hydrate and give you healthier lips in three days. I have been using it now for three days and can say it's helped a little. My lips feel softer after applying and when it's been on for a few minutes. But like all chapsticks, once it dries out you have to re-apply to get that soft feeling again. I will give it points for not having a wierd smell. It has a pleasant citrus fragrance.

So, would I recommend? For $4.90 a tube I will have to say save a few bucks and stick with what you are already using. There is also a night version of the Neosporin Lip Health. Maybe that one delivers...

I say this product gets a Good Bye!

Book Review: Vixen Diaries

Vixen Diaries is the follow-up to Confessions of a Video Vixen by Karrine Steffans. As a refresher, Karrine is the ex video model/celebrity groupie that wrote a tell all book outing her famous lovers. Some include Jay-z, Ray J, Bobby Brown, and the list goes on. As a fan of the first book, it was entertaining and kept my attention. As a matter of fact I read the book in one sitting. While at a book store the other day I saw the follow up and it was on sale from $24.99 to $5.98. So why not right?..... Wrong. I should have saved my money and bought me meal from McDonald's.

Not only does she not really name many new lovers, the ones she did name I had to google and find out they were famous back in the 90's. She spends a majority of the time talking about how much money confessions made her, all her new possessions and says she is a New York Times best selling author(to many times to count). She brings up not wanting to tell her friends of the things she can now afford because she doesn't want to make them feel jealous. Really?? She has to remember she's famous for telling all. No one cares about her day to day happenings.

Here's a little exert from her book, chapter 13, to give you an idea what you're in for if you decide to read this book.

"My birthday present to myself in August 2006 was the purchase of my first
home. The million-dollar property sits on a hillside, which I also own, and
offers spacious living quarters and over twenty-three thousand square feet of
land... but I still look forward to the purchase of my next home, which will
have to be bigger and better, naturally. That's always been one of my foibles-
I have a hard time appreciating where I am and what I have, not because I am
ungrateful but because I always want more."

This book was extra boring. I only hope she is saving because money does run out. Especially when you're not famous for having any talent. I guess it says something when a book originally priced at $24.99 is then on clearance for $5.98. My only question is what do you do with a book that you hate? Use it as a coaster?

Recipe Review

A couple days ago I did a post on the spaghettini recipe I came accross online. Today I decided to try it and let me tell you... it was great! The flavors of the bacon, basil and garlic really come through in this dish. One thing I noted was to use a little less olive oil than the recipe calls for. The parmesan was a great touch. The following are the ingredients. Follow the link in the following post to watch the video.

>3 or 4 pieces of bacon (I use more because I really like the bacon flavor)
>1 clove of garlic
>4 or 5 basil leaves
>1 cup baby tomatos (cut in fours)
>Spaghetti pasta
>Olive Oil

This recipe is really simple and the amount of the ingredients you use is really up to your taste buds and what you like.

Do it Yourself: Perfect French Manicure

I have tried all kinds of polishes to give myself that perfect manicure at home. Well, after much money wasted I finally am confident I found it! It's sort of like a polish sticker. It's from Incoco. The french manicure kit comes complete with; the dry polish stickers, manicure stick, nail file and nail polish remover cloth. I bought it from Walgreens for about $4.99 per set. They also have solid colors.

1. First, match up the white tip and stick on each nail. File away access.
2. Your supposed to then stick on the neutral color that goes over the entire
nail for a softer manicure... SKIP THIS STEP ( the sticker
doesn't always match up to your exact nail size, resulting in the whole nail
not being covered.)
3. Use a top clear coat over your nail and just the white tip.

And that my friends gives you this gorgeous finished product. Every time I go somewhere people ask me where I get my nails done! It also stays on for up to 2 weeks without chipping. Just be sure to re-apply the top coat every 4 or 5 days to freshen up the manicure.

Really Simple Recipe Website

As part of my routine, everyday I look at the articles on aol.com. Well today I saw a video for Olive Pesto Pasta made with tuna. It directed me to a site (www.kitchendaily.com) that showed me how to make what is fairly simple with ingredients you most likely have in your pantry: tuna, pasta, olives, olive oil and spices. I also loved how healthy it was. Well after viewing that video I couldn't leave the site. It was filled with so many similar easy recipes including a spaghettini (basically just tomatoes, spaghetti pasta, olive oil, garlic and bacon!) You have to check out this site... If you make any of these dishes be sure to share the experience with me.
